Having a mission statement for your business answers the question “Why do we exist?” It tells people why you created your business in the first place. (And sometimes you may need it to remind you why, as well!)
Here are a few examples of mission statements I appreciate:
Disney — To make people happy.
Mary Kay — To give women unlimited opportunity.
Marriott — To make people away from home feel they are among friends and really wanted.
Facebook — Giving people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.
If you’re running your own business, have you taken the time to make a mission statement? It takes some real thought about your motivations, but it’s a great way to get clear and keep yourself on track. A great aromatherapy mission statement might be, “To give people natural, aromatic tools to heal themselves.”
