Got Blue?

Blue essential oilsRoman Chamomile, Blue Chamomile, Cape Chamomile, Blue Cypress, Yarrow . . . the list goes on, but these are five of the sparkling blue essential oils that offer us all kinds of healing potential.

I made a blend of blue essential oils the other day for a friend who was in pain, and it was really effective!

No More Blues

10 drops German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita)
15 drops Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
20 drops Cape Chamomile (Eriocephalus punctulatus)
2 oz aloe vera gel
1 oz German Chamomile hydrosol
1/2 teaspoon guar gum

Warm the aloe in a double boiler. Once warm (not boiling), sprinkle the guar gum and stir. Add the aloe/guar gum mixture and the rest of the ingredients to a small bowl and use an immersion (stick) blender to blend the essential oils, aloe and hydrosol.

The result will be a slightly thick, cooling, aromatic gel to reduce pain and inflammation.

Alternate Essential Oil Recipe for No More Blues:

10 drops Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
15 drops Blue Cypress (Callitris intratropica)
20 drops Cape Chamomile (Eriocephalus punctulatus)
2 oz aloe vera gel
1 oz German Chamomile hydrosol
1/2 teaspoon guar gum
