About me:

I was a teacher for many years and it must be part of my nature to want to keep learning and teach others. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two grown children. As an "empty nester" I decided to go back to school at Aromahead Institute in the Aromatherapy Certification course. I just received my certificate today, November 6, 2015! I have always loved nature and aromas and finding healthy natural ways to combat illness. When I saw that essential oils were gaining in popularity, I wanted to find out more. I wanted to learn from a professional and educated mentor and I knew there had to be much more to learn about safety and the science of essential oils. In 2013 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune "disease" and my doctor recommended a grain free diet along with really cleaning up what I was putting in and on my body. I started researching home made products and found a lot on the internet. I went on a clean up and clean out journey and got rid of unhealthy products and started making my own. I started with inhalers and roller bottles for my family and diffusing at home and in my workplace. I have been very healthy, not one cold or illness for almost 3 years! I work in a Pilates and Yoga studio and my co-workers are very encouraging and I'm ready to start working with clients there! Getting my aromatherapy certification gives me a professional reputation at the studio that our clientele appreciate. I have learned so much from the courses and I'm ready to take my aromatherapy certification and "aroma joy" into my workplace and community!

What I loved about Aromahead:

Andrea, Cindy and Shelia are incredible teachers and mentors and I have enjoyed every lesson and webinar. The feedback on my case studies and research paper were very encouraging andI always look forward to reading emails from my Aromahead mentors. The forum is also very helpful. I haven't posted anything yet, but I'm sure I will. It is very supportive and I can search for topics and answers to my questions on numerous topics.

My business in under construction. I am hoping to name it Aroma Joy.

Finding joy and health using essential oils simply and safely. I offer private aromatherapy sessions with instruction and advice while providing customized essential oil blends for targeting health issues. Small classes and workshops are also available. I can offer aromatherapy to other healing modalities like massage and yoga to help clients on their health journey. I am teaching a workshop "Letting Go - Yoga and Aromatherapy" on Nov. 11, 2015 from 7 to 8:30 pm with Yoga instructor Julie Jack at Rivercity Pilates: www.rivercitypilates.com
